Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I drop my pet off early?

A: We prefer that you arrive right at your grooming time. Arriving early can upset a dog on the table that we are already working on. Sometimes we need right up until an earlier dog's pick-up time to finish their grooming. This same consideration will be extended to your friend while they are visiting to ensure that a calm experience is enjoyed by all our guests. However, we certainly would rather you be early rather than late.

Q: What vaccinations are required for your services?

A: We require your pet to be up to date on their Rabies vaccination. We STRONGLY recommend your pet to also be up to date on all other annual vaccines. The recommended annual vaccines are Distemper, Parvovirus and Bordetella. Puppies must have 2 sets of puppy shots to enter and the Rabies vaccine at 4 months of age, as required by VA state law. The two rounds of puppy shots we require need to include Distemper, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza. Remember that one of the easiest and most effective ways to keep your dog from getting sick is to follow your vets recommended vaccination schedule.

Q: Can I stay and watch my pet being groomed?

A: Unfortunately, due to safety and liability risks we can not allow pet parents to come back and watch the entire grooming process. Most pets tend to get very excited  when seeing their owners. We work with sharp scissors and need to be able to gently and safely keep your pet calm while working on them. Thank you for your understanding and we assure you that your pet is in good hands.

Q: Is it ok if I can't pick my pet up right away?

A: Most of the time this is fine. We allow up to one hour after being done to pick-up. Our standard is to keep your pet comfortable at all times. Pro-longed kenneling can sometimes cause unnecessary accidents in the kennel (will need to be re-bathed), arthritis pain in senior pets or stress to the pets whom don't like kenneling.

Q: Does my pet have to be kenneled?

A: No. We offer cage-free grooming services if desired. Our option for cage-free grooming is called an Express Service. There is an extra fee for our Express Services as we will block time off in our schedule to allow us to work on your pet from start to finish in a timely fashion to ensure they are ready for immediate pick-up. However, Express Services require your pets cooperation with the drier to ensure being done in a timely fashion. We will not stress out pets with the drier if they don't like it and they may require extra time to air dry.  Express Services are great for pets who don't like to be kenneled and tend to self-mutilate in the kennel.

Q: Can I bring my pet treats and toys for Grooming?

A: If you think your friend will enjoy their own treats, has allergies, sensitivities or is vegetarian—yes, please feel free to bring yours. Please DO inform us if your dog has allergies!

Q: What if my dog has fleas?

A: We kindly ask that all of our clients inform us if their pet has fleas when scheduling as we do not accept pets with fleas. This policy has been added with your furry friends health in mind. Fleas are highly contagious to other pets in our care/ facility and can easily be treated at home. However, sometimes fleas can be hard to detect at check-in with thicker/dark coats and will be treated with a flea bath at the owners expense if we find them after drop off. We will always call to inform you if we find fleas on your pet.

Q: My pet is "in heat" and making a mess. Can I bring her in for a clean up bath?

A: Unfortunately, due to sanitary and behavioral risks from other pets being around a female in heat we do not accept pets in heat. Thank you for understanding.

Q: Is the salon air conditioned?

A: Yes. Our salon has central AC/Heat. Also, our driers do NOT having a heating element in them. We prefer hand drying, but pets who need cage-drying are monitored closely and the driers only use room temperature air.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment? If so, how far in advance should I call?

A: We do go by appointment only from Tuesday-Saturday for all services offered. Our last appointment time for the day is 12:30pm. We generally need at least 3 days to a weeks notice for weekdays and 2-4+ weeks min. for Saturday appointments.

Q: I missed my appointment, need to cancel, or am running late. What should I do?

A: No worries! We understand things do come up, but due to how far in advance we book out we will need 48 hours notice or the full appointment will be charged. If you are running behind for your appointment please give us a call before your appointment time if possible. Sometimes we cannot accommodate late appointments and will need to reschedule after 15 mins. and/or charge a late fee if we can still accommodate you. If we cannot accommodate you as a result of how late you arrived we will have to reschedule and charge for the full appointment.
